You'll hear 2 schools of thought on how to break it in--one is to follow the break-in schedule in the owners manual and the other is "ride it like you stole it".

I follow the break in schedule in the owners manual as my thoughts are that Yamaha knows what they're doing in making that recommendation.

you'll hear from others who didn't follow the recommendations and they'll say their skis are fine too so take your pick.

there's dozens of threads on here about how to make the VXR faster---do a search---just depends on how much you want to spend.

    congrats on the new ski!

Also... are there any parts you can buy to add to the VXR to make it have more power or no? Can you supercharge it with after market parts or no?

    Thanks!
The owners manual tells you the process. For my FX SVHO it was 2000 rpm for 5 minutes and under 5000 rpm for 90 minutes. I figured 1.5 hours of my time was worth following what Yamaha recommends. After the 1.5 hours have at it.

When in doubt follow the manual.
