    port vs. stuffing

I've been told of the benefit of stuffing the casese. (much quicker response) But reading the PSI catalog posted in another thread for the Genesis race engines, it says crankcase modifications required $250. I so happen to own one of these 780 engine packages and it appears to be ported, not stuffed. It's obvious that the upper case is beefed up with added material to make for a larger gasket, but hard to see by the pics is the porting. The "corners" have all been rounded over, and the "mouth" of the upper case opened up. Meaning the stock Polaris cyl base gasket sides are floating, not even resting on the aluminum. Part of the reason custom gaskets are required I suppose. They did however epoxy the drainage bolt voids on the bottom of the case. Does anyone know when the shift went from porting to stuffing the cases? Or the pros and cons of each? Just sharing some pics of my set up. It is a 95 750 case, but it has 2 small barbed fittings where the 92-93 engines used to route the cooling hoses. Why I don't know. In the pics I'm showing comparison to a 96 780 case and the stock base gasket in one pic.
