Lightbulb GPS speed sensor for the stock dash

I've been waiting for more than an year for candoo guys /with all my respect to them and their diagnostic tool/ and attempted to do GPS speed sensor for the stock dash of my 07 RXP. I had most of the parts from other projects and went to local electronics store for some I did not have. I was measuring the signal from stock sensor and got all info I needed.

Wrote some more code to accommodate my needs and went dry testing in my garage heavy armed with multimeter, laptop and oscilloscope. I was manually entering numbers instead of number from the GPS /I am in the garage so even drifting the GPS reads less than 1/2 mph/. A little calibrating and some more testing and now I have working prototype. I tested it with all the numbers from 0 to 70 and it is spot on.

I did road test with the unit and it worked as expected

You can see that the reference GPS is very slow but the dash is responding very well. The speed data from the GPS of the unit is updated 10 times a second

UPDATE: the PCB has been sent to the factory for some test boards production. They should be ready in two weeks. If I am lucky I will be able to fit the device in 2.4x1.4x0.8 inches /the only conern is the height - it may be low by couple of mm and will have to go to 2x2x1 inches box but I like better the small one/. All the parts are SMD si the size factor can stay low.

It will be plug and play. No wires ti cut, splice or tap

I am working on the code while I am waiting for the PCB's to show up

Stay tuned - I will post updates on the project in this thread

P.S. Please note that for the test on the video I just towed the ski on the trailer around my house - did not put it in water so this is not showing the speed from the paddle wheel

    Thank you

I managed my 07 dash to show over 100 mph with small but effective trick so there is very easy way to overcome the 70mph limit of the dash with my device. There also will be max speed recall for the session

It will work. I still need to get my hands on 04 to check few things. I have access to 05 which I think has the same ECU but have to confirm it first.

Any volunteers to help are welcome.

I am doing my best to have it under $130. The good quality parts costs some. It will have output that just connects in the stock harness without any modifications.

the final price will be announced after the first final version unit is builded

This was my guess but it will be nice to check just to be sure.
