Purchased used RXT 2 weeks ago - I already have an issue - need advice

    Newbie here!

I purchased a used RXT 215 2 weeks ago. I is slightly modified with Riva Stage 2 injectors, Solas Impeller, Stainless Exhaust, Green Hulk SC washer, and BOV.

The engine runs really good, and hits its top speed, but 0-30 acceleration is very very slow, once at 30 it pulls like crazy to 70.

When I hit WOT at standstill, the engine revs up and i hear a series on rhythmic low-tone "thump-thump-thump" in the water during acceleration, but does not shoot out of the water. My friend's GTI 130 creams me off the line... not good!!!

Any ideas why? Am i losing boost boost?

yes, cavitation is always a problem when you have HP
you will probably not find a fast easy fix
it may be a few small problems that all add up
like the shoe teeth broken, not perfect prop and wear ring, worn carbon seal, weak bellows

welcome to the best forum for learning about your pwc
there are many, many posts about cavitation
read a few and then try to fix it

Sounds like your prop is out of spec or damaged.....look inside the pump from the back with some one holding a flash light in the intake grate....probably going to see a gap between the prop and housing or damage to the prop ...

The leading edges of that impeller are going to cause cavatation, removing it & smoothing out the edges will help alot, but for optimum performance it should be redone or replaced.

Yup, looks like a rock went through there, best to replace or have the prop repaired and replace wear ring if damaged....smoothing it out your self will work but may put the prop out of balance and put extra strain on the pump bearings....imho

When you change your wear ring, go with a full stainless steel one - it'll last you for the life of the ski and give you a great consistent holeshot. Remember, plastic wear rings start to wear from the first turn of the prop, allowing the pump pressure to release. This only then worsens over time. There's loads of threads on SS wear rings - don't be fooled by the plastic brigade - all the big boys at the back of the school bus use stainless steel. Put in a new Solas prop at the same time and you will be blown away just how strong your thrust is. Don't suck up rocks or run in shallow water and you'll have hours and mile of smiles.

refurbish/replace the prop and wear ring.

If you go stainless wear ring, keep in mind that the driveline will have no "give" so if something unpleasant gets in the pump......

the choice is all on your riding situation.

Out here where granite gravel rules, it's all plastic all the time.
