Sundance 82.4 with more to go!
I know you guys have been waiting on some results of this buildup so i wanted to give you an update!
What a long day!
Nothing seemed to go right from the start. The ski wouldn't get past 6300 RPM's. It acted much like a fouled plug, but i remember the plugs looking great when i did the valvetrain upgrade. Regardless, i put a new set of Denso's in and the ski ran like a top. After i had the ski warmed up real good i did the first speed run. 8500-8550 RPM's... GPS read 80 real quick, 81.1 and then smoke was pouring from underneath the seat. I immediately knew the waterbox was smoked.
I took the ski back to my shop and yanked the waterbox and sure enough there was a hole in it and the hole has been there for quite some time. Check out the pic! Ray, im surprised you haven't sunk this ski
I called Riva and got a new waterbox on the way. Meanwhile, i couldn't leave well enough alone so i installed my Mark Underwood shorty waterbox and headed back out on the water. This waterbox really woke things up. The myth you guys have all heard about modded waterboxes causing loss of RPM's or speed loss is just that, a MYTH!!! This ski is now hard on the limiter and i had to feather the throttle to keep off the limiter and it ran 82.4 in unfavorable water conditions and strong cross wind. I'd like to try a smaller nozzle which i think will easily put this ski into the 83 mph range.
The RUDE Charger is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sundance's ski is setup much like Carey's was, but Careys had the B kit. This ski will spank the pant off of Careys old ski. I haven't felt holeshot this strong since i last rode my EMS RXP. Zero cavitation with the 15/19R and this thing just slingshots from the hole and accelerates with extreme force. I lined up several times with Rocko's 74++ mph RXT and i leave him like he is sitting still. It's just ridiculous!
Word of warning now... any of you guys wanting to line up with the "old guy" at mudbug on the Black RXP you better lookout! He will be a force to be reckoned with

Jerry, if I was to run the Riva ECU, Rude Charger and 50lb injectors...would I need to install the Riva Valve train upgrade?
Congrats...those are some impressive #'s

Yes, anytime you run an aftermarket ECU which up's the rev limit you have to do the valvework.
I highly recommend the Riva valvetrain upgrade!

6300 rpms huh? sounds like the ceramic washers took a dive...
VERY impressive munbers ..Sounds like you had a good time Jerry, minus the waterbox setback..

Jerry, this is what I wanted to here.
How much did you tweet the prop and are you useing the 81mm ring you like?
I love it. Ray please PM me when you get it home. I amd comming by your dock. PLEASE!!!

Austin, you know me. I love that 81 mm ring. I have two options. Drop down in ring size to 80 mm to get it off the limiter and hopefully gain some speed or just add another mm pitch to the 2.5 mm i already have in it. At this point i think its best to go down in ring size and give up a bit of acceleration that way when it starts to heat up all Ray has to do is drop the 81 mm ring back in.
The acceleration of this ski is wicked! It's blowing my mind!
I let Rocko ride it today too and now he's placing his order for a Rude Charger and ECU

Great numbers jerry. I agree the entire modded waterbox thing is a bunch of crap. Im running no water box straight piped and im all over the rev limiter at 82 mph.
