8000rpm out of the water? Keep that up and you won't have to worry anymore.

It is possible that you have an oil soaked air filter and this is choking the engine air flow. You might pull the rubber boot off that connects the air filter box and the intake manifold and then water test.

Where are you located? Some one local might be willing to take a look?

It sounds like a pump issue to me. On the trailer air going through the pump causes little or no resistance. Water is another story. Too be that severe I'd think you've got something on the pump shaft.

If it were a pump issue it still would turn the rpm or more. Sounds like it's nosing over under load. Check the air filter, spark plugs and oil level.

check your nozzle too, you could have a broken nozzle or that its sealed properly on the pump, if its off, it will not direct flow properly. Ive seen a broken reverse gate cause this, is this a deluxe or cruiser?

Might have stripped the coupling tho...on the engine side. Not a big deal, you can usually find one for cheap on eBay
