Looking for the best clearance between the impeller and the stator I have a stock pro impeller and stator and I would like to close the gap ?

You want to shift the impeller back closer to the stator vanes, correct?

This is controlled by the SS spacer that sits behind the impeller, with the hub seals riding on the outside surface. You can change the spacer length to adjust the impeller blade spacing to the stator. Make very sure the modified spacer is machined carefully, not angled or beveled at either end.

This does not affect the drive shaft length as the drive shaft goes right through the impeller and the rubber end bumper rides against the forward end of the stub shaft.

Look into an aftermarket Skat Trak impeller. Not OEM. They have tighter tolerances.

Polaris had larger clearances for rocks and such to pass through to minimize stator vane damage.

Yes would like to bring the impeller closer to the stator . Was thinking of turning down the hub but don't want to get it to tight ?

See K447's comment above. The spacer is what will need to be modified as the impeller rides on the spacer, which rides on the inner race of the inner bearing.

If you mod the ss shim and you are changing from stock to aftermarket impellers the aftermarket one will make contact safer to mod impeller ?

Change the spacer if you need more length later on.

In addition to the standard length .75" there is also a slightly longer .91" spacer that is used with some stators and impeller combos (Skat-Trak).

I do have 3 or 4 spacers, I could turn them and then mark them for each impeller .

Still need minimum clearance between stator and impeller ?
