    2001 TXI 1200 Fuel Pump

Is the Fuel pump controlled by the EMM? I have opportunity to purchase a low hour TXI that cranks but the fuel pump will not run when starting. It will run if it attached to the battery though. Thinking it should pump up as soon as the key is inserted or does it wait until cranking?

EMM controls the fuel pump. Pump should run when the engine is cranking or running. Lanyard in place, of course.

Sometimes the single Brown wire from fuel pump to EMM has a burned contact in the large EMM connector, pin 40. More common is the fuel pump fuse is blown or the EMM itself needs repair.

Assume the EMM needs repair (budget $700). Also plan to reinforce the fuel pump pressure regulator. Not expensive to do but requires removing the fuel pump from the tank.

See my signature links for more useful info.

Another alternative to the Kawasaki fuel pressure regulator is this:

I had purchased the Kawasaki one and the pressure was too high to allow much flow back to the fuel tank. This red one is really nice, a little lower cost than the Kawasaki and also has a nice gauge for real-time adjusting/monitoring. The lens crack was due to the seat hitting it, had to bend the bracket I made a little and it fits fine now.

I honestly hadn't seen any reference to the Beerdart upgrades to the external regulator... I'll have to look at them. Thx.
