2004 4tec GTX supercharged - 185
This thing all of the sudden just would surge at idle. So kept the gas up above idle when we needed too. Then once back at the dock, got progressively worse to the point it would shut down. The next day, too many beers, I took the thing out (kidding about the too many beers), runs from idle to top end with no problem. But come off the gas, let it idle, surges. Goes between 2000 to 2500 rpms. Normally it runs 1750 rpms.
After 4 days of having my head in the hull, checking wires, etc. I am lost.
I have replaced fuel filters
3 idle bypass valve switches
1 crank case sensor
Fresh fuel, sea foam
Checked and made sure injectors were spraying
Made sure grounds were all good.
Only code that shows up is the compass one. Other than that no code. Hopefully my buddy comes over with the candoo system, but even then that may not pick up the sensor or whatever its doing.
Anybody have an idea? As long as I give it gas it will stay idling fine, anything after that it just like normal.
I did replace the wear ring. Impeller has been beat up, but as I Know the rev limiter is 7600, I use my throttle to position it there, then drop it down to 7500 rpms. I have new prop sitting in garage, but not doing anything till I get this figured out. So if anyones been through this problem and knows the fix, post up.
