94 GTX Ignition Timing Verification
Someone with a 94 GTX - said ski was running fine then they stopped for lunch and came back and could not start it again... they thought the problem was electrical and they traced it to a bad stator based on the SM for ski (or so they thought) and replaced it - now they can not get it to run....
Individual swapped out stator and said they can get it to turn over like it wants to start but never catches. I asked him if he set the marks correctly between the case and new stator ..... Could not find /know there were any marks to line up - so he set it up based on where he thought the screws were mounted on old stator as reference point.
Just want to verify that I am correct in my thinking here and explanation to individual ... Even with the stator all the way retarded or advanced the motor should start and run (just not very well)... all other things being correct (fuel/battery/carbs/etc...)
I am thinking there is/was something else wrong with the GTX rather than the stator...
But again just want to confirm -that fully retarded or advanced the GTX should be able to start/idle...
thanks for assistance/comments
