2004 Gtx supercharged ltd few questions and ongoing progress thread.

Hi guys, some if you may know from my last post I've just purchased a Gtx 185 supercharged ski.

I managed to test it for the first time in the water today to see how it performs.
its got 18.5hours on it (hopfully genuine) but it's been stood around for years, it's stood for over 2years before the last owner had it so he took it to be fully serviced and the washers replaced to metal in the supercharger. In 2012 and he only done 8hrs on it and it's stood for another 2years and now I've bought it.

Ive drained the petrol tank and filled up with shell v-power super unleaded fuel before heading out for a test run.

It it seems to be running awesome but I've noticed when it comes back to idle it will idle at around 2500-3000rpm but if I blip the throttle it will drop down to 1750-1800rpm and now and again the idle will hunt so jump back and forth from 1750-2100rpm. Is this normal for one if these to do that?

Also so what is the normal top mph and revs for a 185bhp sc ski, off the top of my head I think flat out I was at 55mph and 7400-7500rpm. Dose this sound about right?

    Thanks in advance guys

Nice ski. Everything sounds good to me besides the idle which on that year is probably something mechanical thats sticking from sitting around and needs to be lubed.
May even just work itself out from being used regularly again.

Awesome dude and thanks, yeah I was hoping it might just be the throttle body or cable sticking slightly, it dose feel super smooth when pressing the leaver so it's not sticking at the thumb leaver end ski might be closer to the engine where it could be sticking. But like you said it might fix its self the more I use it.

Put new plugs in it and it should smooth out. Rev limiter is 7600 and should run 7400 to 7500 I have never seen 7600. Runs great and will give you lots of fun . Big stable my wife calls it her floating coach.

I thought the LTD had a higher limiter, is that not the case? if not limiter is 7650, mine is usually in the 7500-7600 now some peak at the 7650 at times.
For the cable just lube it, put some wd40 in it and in the throttle body, idle should be around 1700-1800

you see my top speed on my signature but I have done a truckload of stuff, I think stock the best I got was 60 GPS

Thanks for the advice mate I will do just that.
Yeah it feels a lot more stable and smoother running than my last ski which was a 2stroke RXDI this feels more like a boat which is awesome for me as I got it for wakeskating

Just sold my gtx185 with 270hrs, always got 65mph out of it 55 seems a little low. Have you checked that the supercharger is not slipping. Low hours or not I myself would get it checked, last thing you need is to blow your motor up.... I ride in the ocean if your in freshwater it still should be 61-62 also check out the jet pump, impella and wear ring good luck loved my gtx

Yeah especially if he only replaced the washers 2 years ago. I would completely rebuild it myself.
