Riva/K&N FA, do they require oiling?

Riva/K&N flame arresters, do they require oil? They are not apparently pre-oiled like all the ones I've bought for cars, and the instructions don't mention it, so is there a reason that you DON"T oil them? Thanks

Thanks for the link, I didn't realize there were two kinds, my old GP ones were the pre-oiled red colored ones with the cotton and stainless wire, these are the grey epoxy coated ones. No oil.
