    Crankshaft gear guide pin

I have a 2004 GTX 4-TEC. When I pulled the rear cover off a small pin fell out. I finally figured out it is a crankshaft gear guide pin. I have no idea where it goes. Can someone help me.

Are you sure it is not one of the pins used to help align the PTO cover?

This one is about half the diameter of the PTO alignment pins.

Would not have thought that could come out with the flywheel and magneto attached. You would have to remove those to install. Was there any damage?

When I look at the front of the magneto I see a pin that looks just like that in the flywheel. Is there another one someplace behind that or is it possible that during assembly from the factory they dropped one and couldn't find it and installed another one. Thanks for your help.
