    Who can Lighten Valves???

I have PM's a few people on here with no luck.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I want to ship my valves only and just reinstall them here if this is possible?

    Anyone have any sources?

    Another question, maybe dumb.
I spoke with one of the builders here weeks back and he told me that the "big" valve heads everyone is running up to 9000+ has SS valves that has been lightened.
He said the weight of the oversize SS valves is the same as the uncut stock valves.
So if valvetrain weight is the concern why can you not run the stock valves to 9000 rpm's with the correct springs and retainers?

What other concerns can you have other than the weight of the components themselves?

Maybe someone that knows more than I do can help.

If the cost is not astronomical then lightning the valves and reinstalling them is not a huge concern, but if it requires shipping the head, and new guides and such it becomes way more of a project to get into.

I understand that doing the head gives gains but I do not have the funds to spend $2k + for head mods. These can be done at a later time when there is not so much going on.

I think on a cost per HP doing the head is probably not a big "bang for the buck" project.

but its got to be done if you want to run the upper RPM's. There is lots of power to be had in the head, but its going to cost big bucks.

With the 2mm oversized valves you must have them lightened... even with the higher rate springs. Ask me how i know

You can build a cheap high RPM head by going with stock valves and have them lightened. My Franco Dettori head has intake valves that are 4 grams lighter than stock and the exhaust valves that are 7.5 grams lighter than stock. The lightweight retainers also save me 6.5 grams each. This is the same head that Zapata is using and is running 9000+ RPM's all day long.

Mark Underwood at Rotax Racing also does this service for a reasonable price. He did mine and did a great job.
