    pump question

hey guys i have a 2013 gtx is 260 and i just replaced the impeller and wear ring as it was in bad condition. did this for an oncoming long trip planed for friday 19th. took it to the lake and found it working really good. it will not hit the rev limiter out the hole. but found that the seal is leaking water. is something i did wrong? or is the common carbon seal issue. there is no alignment in the pump right? it went in real easy just had to move it slightly for splines to catch on impeller. pump was not forced in the shaft. any help will be greatly appreciated as trip is planed for friday 19th and i dont think that if i take it to dealer under warranty it will get fixed before then.. any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

was the rubber stopper in the drive shaft replaced
if it was crushed and not replaced that will make the carbon seal loose

What impeller did you replace it with? Stock? Solas? That will be your issue

    I have your answer.

The Solas uses a billet nose cone with oring to seal driveshaft spline area. If you put too much grease on the splines or in prop, the extra grease will have no where to escape and will push driveshaft forward. This will seperate the carbon seal mating area. Remove pump, remove excess grease and remove oring on billet nose cone. This way the extra grease will have a place to go.

Same thing happened to me just a few days ago

Bonus answer: The pump self aligns because it has guide pins. You know it will be correct if the 8mm studs have an even gap around the 10mm holes (for the pump). SeaDoo uses the gap to prevent corrosion from building and locking the pump in the hull.

As sanfish mentioned it may be a cone issue some have resolved this by using the stock cone below is a thread explaing this.
