Jet pump bearings on a 1999 SLTX, repack the new bearings?

Just overhauling the Jet Pump on a 1999 SLTX. I'm using a pump overhaul kit from SBT. Just wondering if the prepacked grease in the new bearings is adequate or whether I should gently ease the grease seals out and repack them with a known good quality synthetic marine grease? Of course I will replace the bearing seals after repacking. Always the risk of damaging the seals but I've done it before with success.

Ive done the same exact thing with great success. Some bearings, although brand new, can be a little lean on lubricant. Popping the seals out for a look certainly can't hurt as long as they're not damaged. I've had very good luck with sharpened dental pick. (Very carefully of course)

Checking and/or packing a "sealed" bearing

Note: If you want to verify how well lubricated your new bearings are before you install them, you can open up the side seal on your generic replacement bearings and make sure they are fully greased, before you install them.

I don't know how many people know this or not, but it's possible to check (and pack or repack) a sealed bearing. The pillowblock bearing in this example (just happened to have it laying around) was packed pretty well, but many that I have checked have not been. (actually, some horribly so) The only thing needed is a really pointy tool of some sort to carefully remove the seal. I use a dental pick tool end sharpened to a point.

Thanks for the info guys. I ran out of time and put them in as they were. Time will tell! FYI freezing the bearings well and heating up the nozzle so you can barely pick it up with bare fingers made installation of the bearings a breeze. They almost dropped in all the way, I just used the press to make sure they were fully seated.
