    Waveraider 1100 low compression

    Hello. I recently acquired a wave raider 1100 with 180hrs that has 40psi in front cylinder. I plan to rebuild the top end but am wondering what usually causes these to loose compression. Out local classifieds has 2 1100s listed that both need pistons as well. Seems to be common on these and wondering what I can do to prevent it from happening again, or is it just the nature of these big triple to need top ends more often then the 701s?

    The triples by nature blow up more than the 701. the 1200s, and I'm sure the 1100s as well, make so much power that engine failure is much more common

    Had a very similar problem with mine earlier this year. Opened it up and found chunks of the rings missing, bent rod, bearings shot, etc. Tracked it down to a bad gasket between the case and cylinder head.

    Depending on the extent of the damage you may want to go with a complete swap. SBT has complete rebuilds with a warranty for much less than rebuilding it yourself if you include machining costs and your labor.

    carbs need rebuilding a lot and go premix 50-1

    The 1100 actually make less HP per cc then a 701.
