Real Review: JetPilot Apex Side-Entry Nylon Vest
There are few brand names more synonymous with jet skiing, racing or just generally being part of the sport than JetPilot. The brand that now stretches into professional surfing, wakeboarding, skateboarding and much, much more, earned its stripes first in the world of standup jet ski racing. The riding gear, wetsuit and apparel manufacturer quickly became a household name during the sport’s height and took it’s equity to other watersports.
Although JetPilot currently has vested interests in other sports, it still retains a large presence in the realm of personal watercraft. The Watercraft Journal was able to get its hands on their Apex Side-Entry Nylon vest. Unlike other manufacturers of race-grade life vests, JetPilot’s has full USCG-approval as well as a 100mph speed rating. These two factors alone are enough to distinguish JetPilot’s commitment to rider safety over others.

I've been using JP since the early days and still do today
However, not sure why you didn't do the review on their latest side entry model. I've attached pictures showing of my new JP-SE on top of the old version. Notice the stitching and how they now double-stitch over a heavy ribbing I'll never go back to the old style design.

LOL. Unfortunately, we got what they sent us. Beggars can't be choosers.

I purchased the Jet Pilot Apex side-entry vest. Did not like it one bit. The overall length was some what short & if you have any & I mean any, gut / belly ... you will look like a pregnant whale LOL. I went with a Yamaha longer full body neo pream vest and could not be happier. It was really made like a sandwich board that opened on the side ... Unless your skinny ... not for you.

I feel your pain, Ozark. But as far as USCG-approved, 100mph-rated side-entry vests go, the Apex isn't NEARLY the sandwich board that others are - and many don't have the speed and safety ratings. I made sure to put that in the closing of the article as I typically find front-zip neoprene vests to be a little more forgiving for us carrying a few extra pounds.
