Its give and take. If your talking about the pump tunnels cracking the answer would be yes and no. Yes It can happen and probably will if you seal your pump and do alot of mods. On the same token, Its not something that should steer you away from a GPR either. If the pump was filled but unsealed it would lower cavitation but relieve the tunnel to avoid blow out (that was by design),

The new gpr will have the upgraded pump that is better, but the 03s have power valves which are nice performance wise with porting but there can and probably will be more hassle involved with a PV engine. For me a PV engine is a plus but I dont mind working on them either.

    Less hassle= new non-PV
more power potential with porting= older PV

I agree, If performance is all your after, you could use a third of the money you would spend on the new ski and have that 03 running in the upper 70s with great acceleration NO PROBLEM. $500-$600 for a pump and prop upgrade puts you pretty much back to even with a new one.

The decision all depends on if you like to modify and wrench or just want to ride it stock.

My 01 had 300 hrs on it before I put a new topend in it. I think Jim has 500+ on his 1300.

I like the PVs but that new black boat is sweet.

ours had 270 when both #3's blew..because we still had the oil pumps on...

it will last you a long time.....but take your oil pump off now!!
