99 stx 1100 need help with unknown engine water leak

Just got done wrapping up installing engine in friends ski.

running on the hose there is a leak somewhere under the engine , checked all exhaust gaskets/connections and hose connections and all dry no leaks, with ski tilted back I can see a drip under rear coupler, with ski sitting level it just slowly fills the hull. Cannot see anything under engine with the plate in the way.

Any ideas what could be leaking ?

Sounds like the seal or the bearing mount is bad. Time to pull the engine and driveshaft to fix it.

This leak has nothing to do with driveshaft seal or bearing... been there done that..

It's dripping water under the engine case somewhere onto engine mount plate when running it on a hose, does the bottom case have any water jackets?

No water jackets in the case, only cylinders, exhaust, and front cover.

Just for my own knowledge why should I not use marinetex?

just so we are on same page I am talking about the muffler body with the 2 brass fittings , not the waterbox

A high quality epoxy, like DevCon aluminum filled epoxy would probably hold up to the heat, but the problem I see is that the metal is probably gone. Since you're in Cape May, I suspect that you ride in salt and perhaps it hasn't been flushed thoroughly enough. My guess is that a large portion of the muffler is paper thin and it would only fail again.

In all honesty, I'd be worried about the cylinder block corroding through.

I wouldn't half ass anything on one of my jetskis, if you epoxy it it will most likely be a quick fix and sooner then later fail. I would hunt around on ebay or the classifieds and find a used exhaust and be the end of it.

Nothing is worse then being out cruising around or jumping waves and your ski breaks down. Save yourself the headache
