Needing help!! 96 Polaris SL700 Oil Pump

Hello, I'm currently working on a 96 SL700 that I acquired for free. From what I can tell someone used some bad oil or it went bad from sitting. I cleaned the carbs and found the oil in the diaphragms so I cleaned all that out, I also found the oil injection lines clogged with it so I blew them out. I was worried about the oil pump so I took it apart to clean it and that's where my troubles began. I cleaned it but now I'm having trouble putting it back together. I have looked for a diagram but can't find anything. I've thought about just switching to premix but I love the convenience of oil injection. If someone with experience with these pumps could chyme it with some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

How exactly do you take an oil pump apart?

Please post some clear photos of the disassembled oil pump. Many of us have never seen inside one.

I'll take some pics when I get home but it scares me that 2 very experienced posters can't help, I'm thinking I shouldn't have taken that damn thing apart.

    oil pump reassembly

I don't think you will ever find disassembly/reassembly instructions for an oil pump. They simply are not intended to be serviced. Having said that, I would encourage you to get your oil injection working properly. I know lots and lots and lots of folks run premix, but I am a firm believer in oil injection. You will use less oil, and not have to hassle mixing gas at the pump. Even if you can't get your pump reassembled, they are dirt cheap on Ebay.

Yeah I'm just going to buy another one. Is it simply a bolt in project? There's no tricks to it is there? I'm going to play with the pump and try to get it together but I'm not going to use it.

Make sure you buy an oil pump with the correct number of outlets. Polaris made versions of these 'domestic engine' oil pumps with two, three, and four outlets.

The only trick is to make sure the oil pump drive properly fits into the slot on the end of the crank shaft.

    Disassembled pump

That would be awesome, hopefully seeing a disassembled pump will help to remove some of the misconceptions/misinformation about what goes on in there.
