Thinking of getting a Ultra 260 LX

    Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone had a similar ski back ground to me. I have had a Yami FX SHO and a Seadoo GTR 215. Sold both and now looking at an Ultra 260 LX. Not had a ride yet, but looking for something good in the ocean, which the GTR was rubbish for! In terms of performance should I be looking at the Ultra 300 to be comparable to my previous ski's or is the 260 a reasonable match? Also how is it with the lack of trim adjustment?

    Thanks!

They are both great for rough water riding. Both would be an improvement from your previous skis. As far as comparing the two, the 300 will outperform the 260 in every way. The only reason you should get a 260 over the 300 is if price is an issue.

Other than the price point, I would highly recommend the 300 which is much improved in everyway, especially the supercharger.

Until I rode a 300 I didn't realize how much the trim mattered especially in ruff and choppy seas with tge wind hitting ur back. Hard to keep the nose up on my 250. Still a great ski tho. I also recommend the 300 unless price is really good

I believe the trim is a mute point its not needed. It shouldnt be the decider. Price and other fixes, refinements are more important on the 300.

Only way u buy a 260 is if its a low hr 2010 > modle

reasons is because prior to that there are expensive upgrade that will need to
be done on the earlier ultras....

    so its either a 2010 260
Or any 300 onwards.....trust me spend the extra little money now
it WILL save you thousands latter.

A good condition low hours 2010 260 could be a good find. But the creature comforts on the 300 / 310 are too nice to pass up. The ECO Mode function on 300 / 310 is particularly handy for longer destination type rides. The 260's did not have this. JB

My husband has an '09 260X and he admits the only thing he doesn't like is the very wet ride. My yamaha sits higher in the water. It's not such a big deal except when we ride in the ocean...he stands most of the time to avoid the salt water spray in his face. However, we ride fresh water the majority of the time.
