    Piston Ring Compatibility

If I need to replace rings on a 4 tec, can I use non OEM like RIK or do I need to go OEM. There is a serious price difference. Actually ring costs themselves are rediculously too high.

70 hours. But I wouldn't think it would matter if pistons are still good. I could do a whole piston kit, but dont think it's necessary.

Yeah, OEM is like $68. WSM Pistion kit with rings is $90 or so. RIK rings $40 maybe. But are all the rings the same for all pistons?

I can't state for fact for "this" engine, but generally speaking different manufactures have different specs. They are all the same diameter for the bore, but weight, metal compound, thickness, wrist pin clip, and ring width/thickness can be differnt. Maybe there is a way to come up with the the specs?

All 4 tecs use the same rings regardless of year or hp rating. The rk rings are oem quality and have been used in some oem applications over the years. I use rk rings and have for 30 yrs or so. Stay away from the sbt 4tec parts.
