02 gtx 4 tec new owner need help!

I just bought a used 2002 gtx 4 tec with 145 hours on it. I test drove it and it ran awesome hitting almost 60mph. The only problem is when I was driving it back home it started slowing down and filling up with water about half way in the hull. I was hitting maybe 7mph limping it to my dock. The bilge wasn't sucking up anything . No leaks were found when it was sitting in the water so I put it on a trailer and filled it up with some water to see where it leaks out and didn't see anything. Also I now have a whining noise coming from around the jet pump or drive shaft possibly. Need some guidance so I can finally get back out on the water!

    Most likely your carbon seal...
It can easily leak water in while running but still hold not letting any water out from the hull (I'm talking about the way you tested for leaks)

Does it make a lot of noise as well? Like does a bad carbon create a bad noise

Usually it doesn't make any but anything is possible.
Any clue how long the ski was sitting not used? If the noise comes from the pump itself than maybe water got into the pump (long ago) and the bearings are all rusted.
Not trying to scare you just saying...

If anything pump is not hard to remove and inspect.
Even simply spinning the impeller once pump is out can "tell" you a lot...

I think they were occasional skiers on the weekends, yeah much rattling coming from the back of the hull, I see a pretty worn out wear ring as well. Could the bilge not siphon due to a weak(broken) jet pump?

the ski wasn't going fast enough for it to siphon out faster than it was coming in. Add an electric pump as well for next time. Also make sure you didn't ingest any water, check the oil for milkiness.

Yep, the slower you go the less water they can siphon out.
The actual pump condition doesn't affect the suction but if one of the plastic bailer tubes falls out of the pump nozzle then it will actually start pumping water into the hull instead of sucking it out.

You probably know which tubes I'm talking about but just in case since you almost sunk make sure you have both in place.

Here is a pic with the tubes clearly visible...

I was going upper 50s when it started to fill up , I'll still go check all the bilge hoses to make sure they are not clogged and all attached

I would first run it on a hose, just don't overdo it as you don't want to burn the carbon seal if it is still good. If you can't find anything test ride it w/o the seat. As for the noise it's really hard to guess w/o hearing it.
