    Comparison Riva Athena and Control Override Module

    First - sorry, I dont speak english very well.
    So I make short sentences with basic words and I make it short, that I am not miss understand.

    And I will it easily make for you to answer short.
    And I sacrifices to explain why I meditate about these two very different solutions.
    I only hope, someone can give me a short answer.

    I have a Seadoo RXT-X 260as 2014. Everything is stock currently 25 hours.
    My Watercraft have, original stock features like:

    1. waterski modules,
    2. slow speed funktion,
    3. depth finder,
    4. cruise control
    and of course the usually features like
    5. ECO-Mode und
    6. Sport-Mode.
    7. And I can use a learning key for my son, if he like to drive the watercraft.
    8. DESS
    9. OTAS


    My question is, which of this features above I loose, when I install the Athena ECU ?

    And which of this Features above I loose with tht Control Override Module?

    Not sure about Athena, my guess is that you might lose the learning key function (it's just a guess, I might be wrong) About the second one... are you referring to "Speed*Control Override Module" also know as SCOM? If YES than the only thing you lose on that one is MONEY... do not buy it!

    Thanks a lot for your answers! - howsoever my questions are not answerd.
    I say in my first post, that I sacrifices to explain my meditate about these two solutions,
    maybe it is my fault, that I not get the right answers.
    But I can see/hear, that the Riva Athena have not so many supporter

    I need my Watercraft only for one Liquid Quarter Mile Race in the year - the rest of the year,
    I need a standard Watercraft with all the features I describe for familie reasons.
    In some cases my Watercraft are a eyecatcher at shows on stage or showrooms.

    So new Idea:
    I think about, to buy a second orginal ECU by my Seadoo dealer, and send it to
    R&D for reprograming. This is what R&D offers for my Model as a "Performer Kit".
    Then I can paint the second ECU in nice red colour

    Somebody here have send his ECU to R&D before? They are reliable?
    I am can be shure, that I get my ECU back from R&D and it works?
    Somebody have experience with that way and R&D ?

    yes, r+d will work
    but a caned tune may or may not have the correct tune for your ski
    it will probably only be close
    no performance ecu reflash will be perfect for every ski
    fuel psi is the biggest difference and any extra mods will effect the tune
    with the vtech re-flash you can use their logger to make sure your tune is correct
    and you can change it or have vtec do it for you
    now if you want the best ecu that would be a motec

    I vote for VTECH maptuner/tune.

    Normally, I would not have an issue suggesting an R&D tune but since you are a looong way away from California (R&D location), I only suggest the VTECH maptuner and map tune credit. My reason is, with the R&D ECU tune, if you take ski to dealer for service and they connect the SeaDoo BUDS to it, its possible the R&D ECU will be removed and returned to stock. This would require you to ship ECU back to California (each time). Lets face it, you have a new 2014 and the odds are high that the BUDS will update an ECU. The SeaDoo dealers don't do this intentionally, just something that can happen. It can even happen if you have a VTECH tune.....HOWEVER, with the VTECH maptuner, you can easily reprogram the ECU yourself in minutes. With VTECH, you can also change your "tune" if you decide to modify more in the future.

    The Athena is geared only for the Riva specified parts. I had a personal experience with the early Athena (first 50 billet batch) and it was a disaster. I hear they have come a long way since then....unfortunately for most, its too late....as we say in the U.S, "that ship has sailed." It's almost as if they didn't properly BETA test and were more interested in getting it out there.

    Thanks so much to you two Skidoochris and Sanfish!
    Sanfish say something that I never think before - a ECU upgrade done by and from the dealer with BUDS
    Ok - so I think realy VTech is the best choice for me.

    Somebody from you familiar with VTech, so I can ask something about it?
    After flashing a basic tuning file, I guess the GPS Speed limiter is gone?
    And I can use my Leaning Key further on like in the past and I familiar with it?
    Cruise Controll an ECO Mode switches are funktion normal as bevore?

    @ricky86 I think my basic wishes at the moment are not the way he do tuning. But you have right - I can ask.
