Does the msx150 need the pto flywheel or not?

This is the pto side flywheel. Do I need it for vibration control or just spinning mass? Can I remove it and the engine still run properly?

Good question. It's easy to say "well the engineers/bean-counters wouldn't have included it if it wasn't needed!"... but I don't know.

How would you "lock" the crank still while you put on (or off) those bolts holding it on?

I'm not sure if other Weber engine users have them... but guessing they do.

    Cheers!

I just spoke to Randy and its a trade off. More top end power and less low end torque. Also you can break the starter gear due to more kick back.

I guess the hydrospace guys have been doing this for a while.

since I want a good measure of reliability and rideability I will keep it.
