Cheap fishing rig?
A little info on me and where I fish. I live on the delta in central California and enjoy striper and salmon fishing. Normally I use my 1965 27' uniflite. But i have many miles to cover to hit the good spots and am tired of the fuel burn and time it takes at 20 mph.
So I receny rebuilt my polaris msx150 and i am going to give it a try and see how it fishes. I have seen many pwc fishing rigs and they are very expensive and not what i want just to give this a try. I already have an oniell boost dry suit that i use for winter riding that i can use fishing.
I thought to just give it a try i would mount a 52qt ice chest to the ski and then mount the pole holders to it. I already have the pole holders on my other boat and the ice chest was only 30 bucks on sale. I use these hold points to strap down stuff to transport it to my big boat and they were in the perfect place to use for the ice chest.
The pole holders are side mount stainless. Inshould have time to go get them tomorrow. I will mount them to the sides of the ice chest.
Any suguestions? Other than it wont work. If I like fishing from it i will get something better. I already have a dragonfly gps/sonar DI unit and lighting.

Anyway,,,,,, I am heading out tomorrow for a two day trip. Some friends are taking my 27' uniflite cabin cruiser so i will have a place to sleep. Wish me luck as this is what i am batteling these days.
I am taking a new rig tomorrow. Its totally overkill for striper. Its a small diameter double wrap Shimano pole and an Avet SXJ lever drag bait real, 20# mono and 12# floro leader. It could bring in a 100 pound fish but is considered small gear. Also an old falcon light weight 12 poind rod with small spinning real, 10# mono and 6# leader. For a fun fight!
I will take a few pics and hope all goes well. Its a 60 to 100 mile round trip depending on where we go.

Kind of it still surges over 18psi and the gauge hits 22 at wot. I cant give it full throttle or it gets pissy. I think an aem system is in order soon.
The trip went well! 86 miles round trip on half a tank at 40 mph. Landed several fish with the big one being 8ish pounds. I am waiting on my fishing buddy to text me the pic. The rod holders and icechest worked fantastic! No need for a expensive rig on the delta. It was really bad conditions on the way out yesterday but on the way back it was not so bad. Only about 20mph winds and one foot white caps. Yesterday was 30+ winds against an outvoing tide. I have a video of the entire return trip from the rear of the ski. The sun glare made a forward mount impossible. I will finishing uploading the video and such when i hit dry land in a day or so.
So until he sends me the pic I want here was breakfast. One of the bearly legal ones i caught and cooked it on the boat on the grill.

Now there is no way i can get through this so Thankfully i have an old uniflite 27' cabin cruiser. Its got nothing to get hung up like an outdrive and just plows through this shit. Many bigger boats wont do this but i built this thing for low end power and a huge prop to deal with this. Its a beast river cabin fishing boat. Trawler that gets on plane and does 26mph
Finally at the launch ramp, It took an hour to get it here.
