help with diagnosing lr-505 start stop

On my 2000 carb'd genesis when using reverse it sounds like you are hitting the rev limiter. I think I read somewhere on this site that this was a symptom of the lr-505. I have no other symptoms and really just don't use reverse. My 97 sltx does not do this. Is this most likely lr-505 or is this is a totally different problem?

    not a problem, it's a problem feature

when in reverse the rev limiter is engaged

As you've noticed, this is not present on some models.

the problem that will happen at some point is that when you come out of reverse, the motor does not trip the sensor switch and the gate ends up in almost the full forward position.

the dash says "reverse" and you're on the limiter.

check sig links for the Polaris pages.

    welcome to the hulk.

    Welcome

Does Reverse actually work as expected?

The RPM limiter switch being active when in reverse can be confirmed by the MFI display saying the word Reverse.

Yes the dash says reverse and it goes into reverse. It's not as easy to move backwards as my sltx I guess because it's bigger. So I give it a good bit of throttle. Just a little throttle and the rev limiter does not engage.

It would be nice to disable this problem feature.

Unplug the switch at the reverse mechanism inside the hull.

I often disconnect the reverse when it starts to misbehave, as dealing with servicing the reverse electrical box is a nightmare...a 5 year old with en erector set could have done a better job on the setup.

Limiting rpm in reverse is not just a Polaris deal, Seadoo jetboats also have this function supposedly to protect the reverse gate on the jetpump from damage.

Just one of those engineers having a few energy drinks too many when sitting at the drafting table.
