Fuel economy xl1200 (2000) vs fx sho (2008)

Hi guys i m interested in getting info regarding fuel economy comparing my old xl1200 vs my new 2008 fx sho. Same cruising speed around 30mph. Which ski should be the most economic? Thanks

Maybe at 30 mph the sho will be better. I ride a Polaris 1200 2 stroke with a friend who has a fzs. We ride together and he uses a lot more gas than i do. People always assume 4 stroke means better fuel economy. Boosted engines throw that out the window. I have a Polaris DI 2 stroke that i would put up against almost anything for fuel economy.

I dont have any experience on the Yamaha 2 strokes but it seems they are a lot thirstier than what i am used to. I know my friend probably cant go 80 miles or more on his fzs.

I have had 2003 XLT 1200's as well as a 2009 SHO. At 30mph, the difference will be in favor of the SHO but not be enough to write home about.

All depends on how you ride. You can suck through a tank of gas in my FZR in an hour if you are riding all out. Or you can do almost 100miles on a tank if you keep it out of boost.

You're micro analyzing it. It's negligible. If you are trying to save fuel costs, you should consider a VX because I promise you one thing...if you own a SHO, you will be in the boost.
