    ultra x 255 (doo 255hp set up in 250x hull)

    I recently started this conversion.
    Have a 2005 rxp 215 and a 2007 ultra 250x with blown motor.
    My plan is to install the 215 setup and upgrading with the parts needed for 255hp X setup.
    Hope to use kawi pump setup. My initial plan at the moment is to thread the splined end of the seadoo shaft onto the standard kawi one.
    The suprising thing is the diameter diff in the 2 shafts. Kawi one is 20mm, seadoo is almost 30mm.
    Also hope to use the standard intermediate housing.
    Will post progress as it happens.
    This setup should be alot more reliable and loeer maint costs compared to the troublesome kawi setup.

    This is going to upset a few people specially the kwaka lovers they don't seem to have much of a sence of humor.
    Looking forward to to this conversion, its something different.

    make sure you upgrade the pump to the 300x/310x specs otherwise you'll end up having the same problems with pump bearings and crank walking

    In the process of doing that very thing at the moment. Having the shaft machined to take the extra bearing and Nut.

    Finally got this back on track.
    Motor is in hull and aligned. Just needs sorting. On hull cutting is to right side where oil cooler is bolt on.
    Used rhe seadoo alignment tool on the kawi pump for alignment.
    Front mount is simple. Just run a flat piece of metal from left to right and shim up the mount. Kawi pump has 3 cooling supplies already fitted so piping shou k d be easily done.
    Going with the standard kawi pump bearing housing and shaft for moment. Going to cut rxp shaft and have it threaded onto kawi shaft threads for coupler.
    Going to run closed loop for moment
    What are the best heat exchanger to use for the engine cooling??
    What is the optimal temp to run thd coolant at.

    I believe beerdart used a 20 plate heat exchanger in his conversion. Pretty simple setup and it works great. It should be in his 1500 MSX build thread.

    My GPRXP just used a 16 plate heat exchanger. It was almost too efficient so the ball valve is partially closed leading to it.
