    Question about ribbon delete

Im new to skis , just bought a new 2014 vx deluxe at the end of july and have put 50 hours on it so far. I did the ribbon delete and it made a big difference in the take off, this is the only mod. i plan on doing . My question is where the new sleeve slides into the intake if it were hour glass shaped on the inside like a ventura , which naturally speeds air up do any of you guru's think that it could make any type of difference or just act as a restriction point.

Who knows, maybe a few RPM. As a general rule of thumb: the more air you can get into the SHO (or N/A HO) engine, the more HP you will make. Anything that might restrict airflow, such as an hourglass shape sleeve, might hurt HP. Just my .02.

Leave it be, get a reusable air filter from riva. Those two will make a difference in accel

NO need to alter the pattern of airflow. Yamaha has it dialed in already.

Yeah, it isn't as simple as just considering Bernoullis Theorom, you may increase velocity in a stream down the middle of the intake but reduce overall Mass Airflow or even create a larger resistance to flow. It's complicated....

Not to mention, unless you have a load bearing dyno, you cannot truly track any gains or losses.

Where did you get the new sleeve to replace the ribbon? It would be nice to get a little more acceleration out of my 2012 VX Deluxe. I replaced the air filter without any noticeable difference. I need to do the ribbon delete. Thanks

The ribbon blocks alot of air , when you look at it you wonder how any air gets thru it . A machinist friend made mine for me out of thin wall alum. pipe , he took all the measurements and i explained too him what it had to do.
