Seadoo XPL 4tec Carbon Fiber Hull

Pulled out my decade old molds from barn with hell bent determination to build a 255 hp stock motor XPL that weighs nearly stock weight. From previous builds I have pulled out nearly 150 lbs on a race XPL . Looks as though the 4tec will add about 115 lbs. Kudos to rapidaccleration for inspiration and great build. Question is... with a blank slate and super light hull and top ... where to place motor? Set back or standard?

That is just a bare mold without the shell or inner. Do you have inner molds or just glassing in aluminum plates? Do you have a mold for hood and seat? (like the ones Gold Coast Racing was using on those works of art back in the day)

Sanfish I have everything. Even top deck lid mold. Inner portion was capital B#!$ to do. Looking at videos seems setting back motor is only way togo. My first build on this with twin piped 1050 was so light. ( 397 lbs) it handled poorly. Literally floated with sponsons 2 inches out of water. This project should be first sub 500 lb pwc @ 300 hp.. minus crazy guy in SXR. Lol . Looks like this project has no reason for inner liner. I will just fab up on a blank slate. Building this like SD would have done. Hinged access and super serviceabilty. Project goal is 80mph pump gas well handling boat. I really need your guys help on 4 stroke stuff. Iam ill experienced with these new critters. Does any one have a destroyed 4 tec short block and mount I can buy for template? Hang on and watch...I work fast. 120 days to water test.

No hood or seat molds. Hood is waste of time @9lbs savings @ $1100. My battery saved 10 lbs at 140 bucks. Seat was a disaster. Hx assembly is way to go at 12 lbs lost. The stock XPL shock weighs almost 10lbs. I run a mountain bike shock at 0.5 lbs

In order to achieve 300hp or 80mph goal, you will need a big external IC (along with many other things). Because I know (as do you) how tight the hull space is, I would just stick to the more compact 215hp rxp motor (internal IC) and run a drop in ET127 SC wheel. You will need every square inch of space.

Will this be bagging or wet layup? Poly or epoxy? Biax?

ps. Please stay away from core mat!

Ohhh sanifish I have met my match. You are well educated. My plan is a buddy lays down gell coat and thin layer of glass with chopper gun. I come back over with single layer carbon 6 oz. First experiment yielded bad delamination as apparently polyester resin and epoxy dont play well together. Will stick with poly resin. No bagging as we are not looking for cosmetic finish. Just a bitchin time with 4 guys and rollers. I get this program. Damn expensive materials. Open for feedback for sure. Top deck lid requires some reinforcing at hinge points. Serious concern over pump reinforcement. Will bolt stock 255 donor boat in and nurse out some extra recdork HP. We may have put some national champions on podium back in the day. No one ever looked at top deck for light cheater. Lol. Top deck looses 40 lbs. Please dont crash into me.. Im thin! (:
