    Drive shaft removel.

Hi guys, My engine is ready to come out but I'm struggling to take out the drive shaft.

The problem I'm having is I can't pull the collar back to reveal the 'C' clip on my 2004 Gtx.
Ive tried pulling back as hard as I can but it just seems like the whole drive shaft is just moving back altogether when I try to pull the collar back. My mate also tried but it just seems like the collar is seized on the shaft.

Has as anybody got any tips on removing this please

you need to have the pump in or have something to stop the driveshaft from moving . Do you have the tool needed for the Job ?

No mate, I thought it just pulled back by hand. I did have the pump in place when I tried to pull it back.
So I take it I need a tool for that then or is it possable to do it by hand?
    Thanks

Take the pump off and put a 3/4" spacer in the end of the impeller, two 3/8" or 1/2" nuts stacked or a small socket, reinstall the pump. This stops the driveshaft moving rearwards when pulling the collar back. Use the same spacer for reinstalling the collar and C clip.

Thanks mate, how do I pull the collar back? Is it soposed to be free or do I need to use something to force it back?

If it is not rusted you can do ut by hands. It is not fun but I did it few times this way.

The tool is the easiest way. See if there is a GH member near you that may have one you borrow or you can buy one.

You don't need to remove the driveshaft to pull the engine. You can take it out afterwards if you want
