    gp1200 gauge cluster temporary power

I have a donor jet ski and want to part it out now that i have taken all the parts i need from it. I wanted to check the hours on the ski to advertise correctly. Motor is completely out at this point. I am able to power up the guage and have all the electrical connectors plugged in. Guage is flashing low fuel light but, will not go past that point so i cant see hours. Will the hours come up if the engine is removed? I have not tried to add fuel to the tank yet to get low fuel warning off. Maybe this is the next step?
    Thanks for your help.

If I remember correctly the hours will only display while engine is running.

Power the gauge up then press Mode, A, and C, all at the same time and hold for about 3 seconds. The gauge will display each function one at a time all by itself.
