    Pro785 rebuild and more

    Hi from NZ.
I just aquired a Polaris Pro785 for a good price NZD$300 with trailer (no stickers with SLX on it). Told it did a head gasket but then was stored in a paddock for a few years. My intentions are to rebuild engine and jet unit, repaint hull and possibly race.
Will post pics soon. I was told it was a 1997 but colours don't match what I find on the net. Any info would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Cheers for that. I thought manufacture date was at the end. I had a look at the hull and it has been repainted black. Will be giving it a full repaint to bring it back to original design. First job is to pull out all running gear and then check all wiring while engine being rebuilt.

There is definitely a wealth of knowledge and info on here. Am waiting for replacement wheels then taking it to mates place to strip. Have a boat builder we used for a yacht jacked up to check and repair hull.
    Will update when I can

Had a mate remove engine and strip down. Not good news Was told too much corrosion and beyond repair. Water jacket stuffed, serious pitting / corrosion in crankcase, motor was run hot as mag cylinder distorted. Carbs have corrosion to. And then there is the electrics... ... ...
I might look around for a while and maybe repower it with a newer engine or part it out.
