    Square cut oring needed?

    I am rebuilding the pump from a '95 750 SL.

    I found a square cut Oring, that fits inside the hub of the impeller & seals against the stator hub, that was there upon disassembly. There is no mention of this part in the expoded parts diagram nor assembly instructions. It creates quite a bit of drag, so I am thinking of just leaving it out. Is it really needed? Any & all advice is appreciated! Thanks.

    Thanks much Bryan - My guess is that the PO tried to 'improve' it. Just get nervous when I have parts leftover when I rebuild something!
