Dumb Question But.why Does Yamaha?
Why does yamaha powdercoat the inside of the crankcases where the crank rotates? and is it absolutely mandatory that it be there?
cause when i was degreasing them to install my new crank and seals, when i rinsed it off about 75% of the coating came off,,now its bare aluminum!!!!!
will it hurt anything if i just polish these areas out like chrome,,this would be much easier than re powdercoating.

The entire casting is coated and then machined. It will not hurt anything to remove some of the coating in the intake track etc..

Polaris did the same thing. I belive the reason that they do it is to minimize corrosion, exppecialy if you are around seawater. It should not hurt anything though.
