    Oil change...2013 fzr

I just pulled 150oz of oil out of my ski!! Which is 4.6 quarts! I warmed my ski for 5 min on the hose. Put it back in the garage and started sucking oil out. This is at 49hrs my local dealer did my first 10hr service. I was noticing how much oil I was pulling out and it was over the 4th line on the oil suction unit. I poured it out slow and measured every 25oz. Well I got 150oz like I said above. I thought some people get about 3 quarts out of their motor? What are these motors suppose to hold? Anyways. When filling back up. Is the oil suppose to be between the two dots on the oil dip stick? Any oil recommendations? I know 10w-40, can I get oil at napa or discount? Or does it have to be strictly marine?

Ok. Do you fill it to between the dots or to the top dot on the dip stick?

I'm lucky if I get 3.5 litres out
And I fill it to just under the full mark

Well I always noticed when checking my oil, the oil was always higher then the second dot. I always checked the ski with the motor level. Shame on me I guess. No dealer has ever touched any of my vehicles. That will be the last.

I get just over 4 qts. Fill it to the middle
When you ready to ride once more start it for a few min to fill all the lines and filter. Then top it off just below the top bot. I recommend and marine 4 stroke oil as they built for higher rpm vs the standard oil you get. I use Amsoil myself. But any will work great.

Key is to have trailer tongue on the ground and if you have a jack lift the left side up slightly so the front right corner of the oil pan is at its lowest point. This way all the oil will drain to that corner.

Well I changed it and it took about 3 1/2 quarts to fill it right to the full dot. I checked the oil probably 5-6 times to make sure with the motor level. I always go by what the dipstick is saying. Which tells me the dealer over filled it by a lot.

If I put my trailer tounge on the ground it would be way to far. Idk about your ski but my dip stick tube goes down pretty much in the middle of the motor.
