    Are posts open or proprietary?

Don't know if this is in forum rules somewhere, or whether there is any kind of actual law regarding this, but once a bit of info is posted, who owns it? Is it open until a poster decides they might want to take it down?

I'd guess useful information disappearing so someone can try to make a dollar off us.

You can go back and edit your post to show nothing. Pointless. If you need to do that, you should not have posted in the first place.

Just wondering why all of a sudden it's upsetting people or peaking their interest. It's sounds like you're saying that once someone posts info it should become the property of the forum. Am I understanding your view correctly? Are you saying that it should be a rule, or just saying that it would be nice if nobody ever pulled down their info?

OMG, come on guys this is an OPEN information forum. yes some things get posted that the person posting it might wish they did not do. LOL, but Proprietary ? I don't think so. If you post it .... it is fair game as open information, comment, good or bad advice, ETC. That's just the way it is with social media. let's get beyond this & keep the informative post coming

I didn't start this thread, but I selected my view above.

the value of information is variable.

How valuable is it to know that you can change the starter on some jetskis without pulling the engine, even when the manual says that is what must be done.
What about disclosing the part number of a fuel pump that is a dead on fit for an OEM unit costing hundreds more?

Removing information for whatever reason is the posters prerogative, as long as the "edit" button is available.

One of the reasons I had to add a note for forum members not to call me during business hours. I can give it away..but sometimes I need to make a coupleo bucks to pay the bills.

The problem I have is, I asked a specific question and was pointed to a thread that is missing half of it's pertinent information.

I also have a problem with this in general as information should be free, it's nobodies right to take what is divulged here to make profit off it. This Harris guy sounds like a real winner.
