    Is this part of the Exhaust important?

    Its part 20 on a 09 FX SHO. Found it in my mates water box.

    yes it is. it needs to be in place, surprised it came out as its pretty hard to remove

    Same thing happened to mine, looks like it had snapped off, does he have a riva waterbox?

    Yes it does look like it has snapped. It looks like it keeps the hot exhaust away from the rubber hose. He is using the stock water box.

    That parts an extension for the exhaust gases. Puts the point where the gases mix with the water further down stream helping prevent reversion and also to keep the outer rubber flexible hose from getting hot. Mine was real tight I found when I installed the O2 adaptor. I put a 3' pipe wrench on it to break it loose. Then used some tru blu sealant when I reinstalled.
