Do you mean a boost leaker? I think they are not needed. The thought was that it meant less wear on sc wheel.

I have one on my RXP when the ceramic clutches were in there, but since then I have upgraded to metal ones...I will be removing it when I install my intercooler...

Yet I was thinking it might be best to invest in a better unit, not just a basic one...and build that into my plumbing, for flexibility on future upgrades...

    from riva:

Our Blow-off Valve Kit improves supercharger reliability and performance by relieving unwanted pressure during off-throttle operation. Reduces supercharger clutch wear and eliminates heat soak in discharge tube.

And Riva has NEVER been wrong. In theory the split second that you let off the throttle the sc wheel is still spinning but the motor is not using the air so the blow off valve vents allowing the pressure to escape and allow the sc wheel to slow down slower than if the back pressure was there. They came out with this when no metal washers were available and ceramics were failing. With the metal there is no need for the bov. i have also seen no proof that the bov actually does anything. Riva is not going to discontinue this product because people keep buying it. Buy metal washers and save money and boost, or buy it so you can here the air spraying out when you let off the throttle.

And someone explain to me how a bov keeps a pipe from getting hot. It eliminates heat soak, not reduces, but totally eliminates the heat soak.

Jerry, do you see any benefit in a bov with metal washers installed?
