GPR steering/trim ring breaks at high speed!

For those of us building/running conversions, you may want to take a look at any OEM parts you may still be using along the driveline out to the nozzle. I just did a build with Duke and while he was testing, the trim nozzle ring broke at 74mph. I have no idea how he hung on (look at G-Force data on screen). My part was 13 years old and although everyone I've talked to says this is the first time they've heard of such a thing, it wouldn't hurt for other riders using OEM pumps (like me) or older SD pumps to go through and either inspect or just replace possible weak links. Here's the video...

Here's some pics of the ring, it broke at the bottom and blew the steering nozzle up, which led to water making a 90 degree turn down, which led to a minor stuff and rapid deceleration.

This has been a friendly PSA and FYI.

But the good news is that its run 95mph on its first runs. She's leaning out at the top end, which could be an issue with the stock injectors, but we sent my R3 back to RD to have the rev limiter opened up and it basically came back a completely different tune. Glen reloaded it, but it's still not right. I'm going to move my fuel pressure gauge to where I can read it to make sure it's rising at it should.
When Dean Charrier gets back from the middle east, we're going to put my 565cc injectors on it and let him tune it. When the build is done, I'll do a new thread, but here's a teaser vid for now. (FYI: The Garmin camera GPS sure does like to surge at high speed and drop out, but another GPS confirmed 95mph)

Here's a pic of it so far.

I had had to take a double take in that one. Crazy he was able to hang on.
