    Yahoo email

I strongly believe that yahoo sells your email address. Yahoo email is the only one that I get a lot of spam, some with family names. Time to start closing yahoo email addresses.

When you accept terms and conditions of any free email service, you consent to them using your info.

Just seems that yahoo is the worst for spam. I'll get a good 200/1 spam through yahoo vers Gmail or Hotmail.

Do you have your junk/spam filters tweaked to send it directly to junk when you receive it or do you manually move spam and junk?

Most email systems get a LOT of inbound spam, every day. The spam filtering system is the primary thing preventing you from seeing mountains more spam. Roughly 90% of the email sent across the Internet every day is spam. The bulk of this garbage to your inbox is removed by the spam filtering system before you even see the messages.

How much garbage you see in your visible inbox is a function of how the spam filtering system on your email service is configured. AND how many places on the Internet know your email address.

The second factor can be really tricky. Every other person and company who you have sent email to, or has sent a message to you, is a potential way for spammers to harvest your email address.

When someone you have previously contacted activates a Trojan malware on their computer, ALL their email contacts are harvested and ultimately end up in spammers databases. When someone's email account is hacked, all the contact info and email addresses are harvested. If your email address was in the lists, it is now spamable.

The primary difference between receiving a lot of spam and very little depends mostly on the filtering system your email service uses and how many of your email contacts have themselves been compromised.
