The bad is that it has an SBT engine in it and that MOST people just replace engines without finding the cause of the failure.....

One of the BEST skis Seadoo made, The power to weight is unmatched when tuned at its best. Make sure the fuel lines are new. Pull the carbs UP the jets a few numbers, lower the pop off to approx 22-25 psi , turn the the low jet screw at 2 turns out and the High jet screw at 1 1/4 to start off. Set a pair of vortex style flame arrestors with the waters sox on the carbs and try it out. Run it a few and check the plug colors. Dark brown is good, White or grey is bad..Shoot for Black color and lean it down to Brown with oily threads.

it's a mass produced low cost engine replacement which may have welded cases. While the warranty is good, enough folks got tired of pulling new engines for replacements that the company has a bad rep amongst certain folks (not me)

lots of sbt engines fail as "mechanics" underestimate the need to pinpoint the original cause of failure which must be corrected before putting a new engine on track to the same fate.

I agree with this. Most of the bad you read is from incompetent "mechanics" that shouldn't be turning wrenches in the first place. I've not had any bad experiences with any of SBT's stuff except stators.
