Where does this cable connector go?

Ski cranks and starts, noticed this connector was not connected to anything. What is it and what should it be connected to? Is it safe to ride with it disconnected? Thanks!

I am assuming it is not throwing an alarm?

It's a temp sensor for the catalytic converter. If I had to guess, someone installed a D-Plate and "Cat Temp Sensor Chip" or their own home made resistor and just chose not to tie that cable and connector up out of the way. See the picture below for the "Cat Temp Sensor Chip" looks like. It should be plugged into where the 3 connectors are on the side of the e box. If you have a chip sensor, just leave that plug unplugged and zip tie it back out of the way.

Basically the sensor chip tricks the CDI box with a fake signal that the cat temps are "normal".

This is where your plug originally plugged in, next to the e-box on the back wall.

Hello, you do not need to connect the wire to anything! Your D-Plate added, and some skis do not require this hooked up or chip installed. I have a 2008 GP1300R, and my wire just hangs off to the side .... no worries

You could also remove the sensor and install a metric thread drain plug in there. If your OCD like me. I don't know the size off hand

I don't think that would be OCD, it would just be the proper thing to do.

I am more OCD that most on here, and used to do the drain plug thing, but lately ive just been cutting the metal portion of the sensor in the pipe flush with the hex.

Of course I use power tools instead of a hacksaw.
