03' GP1300R R&D ride plate
Could someone point me in the right direction for a R&D ride plate installation thread. All I am finding is bits and pieces here.

well, take the 4 speed sensor screws off then take the 4 ridpeplate bolts off. pretty self explanitory.... do you mean shimming the plate or just removing?

wanted to edit but can't...
I meant put the 4 bolts in and put the speed sensor screws in.... do you need bolt torques or ?

I mean shimming the plate. What thickness are the washers? Is the plate supposed to step down from the pump shoe, or is it supposed to be flush? What is the best angle for hook up in rough water? Smooth conditions? how is that angle measured? Whats been done with what results?

check out the rideplate part of that first post,
there are 3 links that show what the concept is. shim the front of the plate so that the bottom is almost down to flush i believe it was recommended for it to but .2" up from the bottom of the pump shoe to make sure it doesn't create drag. I got shims with my modded plate from jim and I'm not sure how thick they are... i'd say about a couple pieces of paper thick. i got 8 total. hope that helps.

if your not practicle, best pay your yamaha dealer to install it for you.
heres a step by step.
medium philips (star) screw driver
12 mm socket
Remove the speedometer (four screws)
*optional*heat up each rideplate bolt, the heating helps remove the locktite.
loosen the four 12 mm bolts one at a time.
Clean up the threads on each of the bolts using a wire brush
replace the old rideplate with the new one
apply the locktite to each of the 12mm bolts.
install the bolts by hand
then slowly tighten them.
attach the speedometer.
tighten the bolts correctly.
