Thread: GPS mount

I finally mounted my gps today. I used a garmin bicycle mount but opend it up and attatched it in a much different way. The hard plastic around the handlebars on the throttle side makes a good mounting surface. The front mounting screw is all the way through the handlebars. A 2nd mounting screw is on the front side. It is up high enough to easily see but does not get in your way.

It's probably got a spring inside it for the latching mechanism, if it does I would recommend keeping it well protected with something like silicone spray before and after every use to prevent rust. The spring in the mount for my Meridian rusted through after only one season, albeit in saltwater usage, even though I rinsed it with fresh water after every use.

No spring on this one. The clip mount is all plastic. I also had a garmin marine mount I had considerd using but could not find a place to mount that would give a good viewing angle. The handlebar mount puts it up high enough to see without taking your eyes away from driving the ski. It is also very stable. The marine mount has 3 swivel positions and is kinda shaky.
