Cool Friday evening $8 mod! Why aren't these stock on 90% of skis?

I love being able to charge my phone, use my GoPro, etc but have always wondered why most ski manufacturers haven't been putting these on skis until recently. At any rate. I welcome you to the $8 marine 12v outlet. Took all of about 20 minutes from the time I gathered tools until I clipped the last zip tie holding the loom into the hull.

    12V marine power outlet: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Thanks for looking,

I originally tried to locate a compact dual socket with 12V as well as USB but all I could find were dual USB. I have several of the little USB adapters that pug into a 12V socket so I think I will be fine. I also wanted to keep it as compact as possible so I didnt have to make too big of a hole.

I would have mounted that in the glove box. I plan to do that on my skis.

If its connected direct to the battery you can also use it to connect a battery maintainer to your ski.

I thought about that but I already have (2 switches in the glove box and the wiring for my AEM boost and wideband gauges.

Yeah, I already have the quick connect pigtails for my maintainers inside the bilges of both skis.

I do like that particular cigarette lighter jack. Can you use a cigarette lighter in it? Lol

Good question. I don't smoke so I am not sure.

I don't either, but It would be kind of funny to pull a lighter out of that spot and light a cigarette.

If that is the Marinco twist release socket, I have installed a few of these. I like the design, and the mating plug does actually lock into place. I use one for charging my watercraft battery from outside the hull.

As far as I can tell a standard cigarette lighter would fit in. The trouble is that the socket is plastic, so the heat from the lighter tip glowing red hot could melt the socket.
