Can you true and weld an assembled crank?

I scored a factory rebuilt crank off Ebay. Can i get it welded even though it's already assembled?

    NOT WISE!

The welding process (even a good ac tig) will introduce a ton of heat to the journals, possibly changing your run-out.

Highly suggest either run it as-is, or send it off to a reputable crank shop for disassembly and T/W.

No, I just thought a factory rebuild would be a GREAT crank for the PSI 780. Now it's looking like I may be selling it for a welded crank.

What EXACTLY, is a "factory rebuild?" More to the point, WHO did the rebuild?
