    Question 2002 Polaris Freedom

Thinking of buying a 2002 Polaris Freedom Apparently it needs Pistons, Crank Bearings, And it has a small hole in the hull. Still waiting to see it, Comes with a trailer, Waiting to see what condition its in, is this a good buy?

Not a bad ski. I guess it really depends on how bad the hull would be to repair. The Polaris 700 motors are very good motors, and not very expensive to rebuild. A good buy would depend on price.

Isn't the price a factor when determining whether or not something is a "good buy"?

That hull is SMC. You must use epoxy resin for any repairs. Polyester will not adhere and will fail. Pretty easy to fix as long as the hole isnt big. I wouldn't pay more than about 600 bucks for that with the trailer. Thats if the trailer is decent. You are looking at a full rebuild of the motor for sure. Most likely new bearings and seals on the pump and drive shaft.

THat ski is a 3 seater, should run high 40s to right around 50 MPH. A little more with some basic mods. Its not a bad ski at all. The 700 motors are almost bullet proof if maintained properly.

Keep in mind its still a Freedom. No reverse, no rear storage, and the display is pretty basic. Id think with a damaged hull and blown motor it would be nearly worthless.
